Picking and grinning this weekend. The annual Bluegrass Jam is being held at the park. Sorry I don’t have a complete list of performers, but am told one of them is 79 Grass. Come on out and enjoy the music.
Big weekend coming up at New Friendship Baptist Church. To celebrate their 180 years, a homecoming is planned for this Sunday May 18, beginning at 9 a.m. with fellowship time and light refreshment. During this time period a new print of the church by a local artist will be unveiled. Sunday school follows from 10 to 10:30 am. Morning worship begins at 10:45. Former pastors have been invited and will be welcomed by Pastor Barry Raley and Associate Pastor Tony Chaudoin.
Auburn Senior Center had an excursion today to Federal Grove for lunch, fun and fellowship. The center is having a community yard sale on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30 from 9 am to 1 pm. Items being sold include furniture, housewares, clothing infant, children and adult.
Anyone of any age is welcome to sell or shop. If you would like to sign up to be a seller, please contact the Senior Center at 270-542-8223. Spaces are limited and the deadline to reserve is May 23. Tables will be moved inside in case of inclimate weather.
Lastly, on May 22 a free physical therapy screening will be held at the center between 11 to 1.
Most of the churches in the area have held special celebrations for it graduates. Congratulations to each of them, eighth grade, high school, and college. Auburn 8th grade graduation will be held on May 30 at 6 pm in the gymnasium.
Logan County High graduates will walk the aisle at 7 pm on June 3, at Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.
On the ill and infirm list this week are Lucille Bond, Thelma Cottrell and Steve “Stumpy” Pendleton. Keep these in your thoughts and prayers.
You should also know the annual Strawberry Festival is in progress in Adairville. This has been going on for more than sixty years. Carnival rides and vendors are already set up. The Jackson/Dickerson dual is schedule for Saturday afternoon followed by the parade which starts at 2 pm. As usual, nighttime entertainment follows on the square.
