Betty Joan Tanner, 79, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at her residence.
She was born in Pittsfield, Ill. on Jan. 7, 1935, to the late Obie Leon and Rhea Louise Garvin Harlow. She was a retired legal secretary with Christovich and Kearney Law Office in New Orleans and moved to Kentucky in 1993. She is a member of the Christ Catholic Church and affiliate of the Southern Episcopal Church and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, Mike and Dan Joe Harlow and one sister, Barbara Keene.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Fisher Tanner Jr.; six step-sons, Leslie F. Tanner III, Michael Raymond Tanner, Wayne John Tanner, Edmund Vernon Tanner, Gregory Thomas Tanner and Lindley Tanner; one step-daughter, Paulette Foster, and one sister, Susan Kay Harlow.
Funeral services for Betty Joan Tanner will be conducted Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Wayne Hunter officiating. Burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, May 18 at 1 p.m. and continue until funeral time at 2 p.m.
