MT. OLIVE — A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday morning when a woman allegedly pulled out in front of him at the intersection of Old Route 66 at Wolf Road in Macoupin County.

Illinois State Police identified the injured man as Lamar Tony D. Anderson, 21, of Raymond.

ISP said Anderson was traveling south on Old Route 66 while operating a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle. As he approached the Wolf Road intersection at 9:10 a.m., Lois J. Mihelcic, 76, of Mt. Olive, allegedly failed to yield at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the motorcycle.

Anderson attempted to stop, but was unsuccessful and laid down the motorcycle, striking Mihelcic’s 2006 Buick.

The intersection is southwest of Mt. Olive, just east of Interstate 55.

A medical helicopter flew Anderson to Saint Louis University Hospital.

ISP cited Mihelcic with failure to yield at an intersection.
