The Russellville Arts Council is sponsoring a new choir opportunity and will be holding an informational meeting next week at the old Logan County Courthouse.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. and is open to any middle or high school students in Russellville or Logan County.
“As we’ve been working with the summer drama camp, we’ve discovered a wealth of young talent here in Logan County,” said Larry Vaught of the Russellville Arts Council. “If there was an ongoing choral program like we are hoping to start, that could really help develop this talent.”
The group will likely meet twice a week at Logan County High School after school from 4 to 5:15 p.m. The group will be called Polyvocae, which means “many voices.”
“This group would be great training for any of you that would like to participate in our spring musicals as well as learning the chops to chase your musical dreams,” Vaught said.
Vaught added that he would like to see the group take part in festivals and perhaps have a spring concert as well.
“Our vision is that they’ll go into their high school choirs and then later the deGraffenried Chorale and they will discover that there’s a whole life long amount of learning in this area,” Vaught said.
