A very highly publicized and brutal murder case in Todd County will be brought to Logan County soon to be heard once again as defendant Garrett Dye was granted his request for a change of venue for the murder of his 9-year-old sister Amy Dye.

According to Commonwealth Attorney Gail Guiling, who tried the case, the venue change was granted due to the high volume of publicity the case received in Todd County.

Dye, who already plead guilty to killing his sister and was sentenced in November of 2011 to 50 years, appealed his conviction to the Kentucky Supreme Court, which reversed it and remanded it back to Todd County. The Supreme Court overturned the conviction believing the Kentucky State Police coerced a confession from Dye.

According to reports, the Kentucky State Police located the body of Amy Dye Feb. 5, 2011, between Trenton and Guthrie. It appeared she had been beaten to death.
