‘Tis the season and the city of Lewisburg is decking the halls in December to celebrate the Christmas holidays.
On Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. Lewisburg will get in the holiday spirit as the city’s annual Christmas Parade begins. People will line the streets to see the parade which has a little bit of everything in it including ole’ St Nick himself.
The parade route will begin on north Third Street and travel down Stacker to Tatum Streets then up east Green Street. This year organizers are focusing on the children, with the Grand Marshals being students from Lewisburg School’s Leadership Program.
“We encourage all children to come out and march, ride bikes, skate boards, tractors or whatever you want and be a part of our parade,” said Lewisburg Mayor Tina Callahan-Dye. “There will also be fire engines, businesses, churches and civic organizations in our parade. Entry forms can be picked up at City Hall.”
But that’s not all. The City of Lewisburg wants to make the holidays special throughout the entire week.
On Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. there will be a Senior’s Snowflake Dance. Get out your dancing shoes and join your friends at the Lewisburg City Complex. Live music provided by Tim Harris & The Rockin’ Ragers. Before the movie begins each person will get to decorate a cookie, then join in the reindeer games that are fun for everyone. Finally, the entire family will settle in for the movie and hot chocolate and snacks. Each child there will also receive a special surprise from Santa Claus.
On Dec. 14 between 8-11 you can eat breakfast with Santa Claus. Bring your children to the Lewisburg City Complex for a visit with Santa and enjoy a yummy breakfast before the Christmas Parade. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children (one free kid’s meal with purchase of adult’s ticket). There will be door prizes as well.
