Several Logan County Farm Bureau members attended the Farm Bureau Legislative Drive-In in Frankfort March 12th. This event allowed county Farm Bureau leaders from across the state to visit directly with state senators and representatives at the state capitol. The Logan county delegation met with State Senator Whitney Westerfield and State
Representative Martha Jane King in their respective offices. Topics of their discussion were: HB 448, Allows landowners to kill or trap on their lands any wildlife causing damage to the lands or personal property. SB 44, Provides a weight tolerance of 10 % for commercial vehicles that are engaged in the transportation of agricultural products. SB 170 & HB 434, Will revise the list of noxious weeds and invasive plants to be eradicated from state rights-of-way. SB 109, An act that relates to the sale of tobacco related products to minors. Farm Bureau opposes the sale of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products to minors. Funding for the Breathitt Veterinary Center was advocated. Several issues of general interest of those present were discussed. The Logan County Delegation was well received and appreciated the opportunity to discuss the above issues with their legislators.
