I have been on a rant all week and wish to express my opinions on two separate topics.
First, I was shocked when I found out you charge $9 an inch for obits, which I think is a disgrace and shows disrespect for the family. How do you feel knowing you are making money from pain and sorrow? It just proves that Civitas, the owners of our newspaper only care for profit over suffering. You have a staff here that cares and keeps most of us continuing to buy your paper.
My rant really exploded after reading Dr. Ron Elder’s latest fear-mongering letter. He ranted about EMP’s striking the U.S. because we have no plan/weapons to stop it. Come on doctor, this is star wars stuff! There was a movie in 1965, and the likes of Newt Gingrich tried to scare us when he was running for office of President!
We know what magnetic fields are, we know what lightening can do, we do not fear what we cannot control. The Electrical companies are seeking answers.
In 2003, 45 million people in the U.S. and 10 million in Canada were without power due to a glitch in software, few people died. Deaths were attributed to misuse of power generators.
Are you really using this scare tactic to bring up the claim that the U.S. has no money to spend on this program because they needed it to implement the Obamacare program?
Number one, we have no plans to prevent magnetic fields and lightening, number 2, our legislators approved the expense of Obamacare. Sorry you were not asked. You should never strike fear in people’s hearts with unfounded claims. God bless you.
