The Logan County All-Stars began their tournament last week and will continue this week in hopes to make it to the championship games. So far all teams have big wins in the district and will continue to work hard to be successful.
The 10-11 team went 1-2 in the tournament and will not be able to advance on to the championship game in their age group. Their first game was against South Warren County and they would fall 2-7.
Their second game was against Franklin on Saturday. Franklin would come out strong and score nine runs in the first inning of the game. Logan County would score three in the first inning. Franklin would increase their lead to 11-3 at the end of the third inning.
Jesse Price would hit a home run in the fourth and Preston Hurt would score to bring Logan County to 5-11. They would keep pushing and score four runs in the fifth inning and come within two runs of Franklin. But Franklin would come out in the sixth inning and score three runs. Logan County would fall 11-14.
Logan County would get their win on Sunday against North Warren with a score of 12-2.
The 9-10 team has gone 2-1 in the tournament as of Sunday.
Logan County would get their first win on their first day in the tournament against Ohio County. Logan would come out strong in the second inning and score three runs. Ohio County would come back and score three runs to tie the game in the third inning.
In the top of the fifth Logan County would score three runs to gain the lead. Ohio County would score one more run but Logan’s defense was able to hold them to win the game 6-4.
Logan County would face North Warren County on Saturday. North Warren would come out strong and score three runs in the first inning and add three more in the second. North would hold on to the lead and add two more runs in the sixth inning. Logan would get one run during the game in the sixth inning but would fall 1-8.
Logan played their third game against Franklin on Sunday to get their second win.
Franklin would start the game off with a strong lead and score four runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning. Logan would score two runs in the second but Franklin would have a strong 6-2 lead over Logan County.
In the third inning, Logan County would gain the lead after scoring five runs in the inning. Logan would not lead 7-6 at the end of the third inning. Franklin would score two runs in the fourth and fifth inning, but Logan would add two in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to seal their 12-8 win over Franklin.
The 11-12 team has gone 2-0 so far in the tournament with two big wins.
Their first win was against Franklin-Simpson on Saturday. Logan would take control early in the game and gain a 3-0 lead after Braxton Meguiar, Dylan Penick and Third Bell scored. Franklin would score in the fourth inning but Logan’s defense would hold them to only one run. Logan would add three more runs in the fifth inning to seal their 6-1 win.
They would play their second game on Sunday against North Warren County. Logan would get an impressive 10-0 shut out win. Meguiar ended the game with three hits. Penick homered and tripled to rack up five RBI’s. Bell also homered and tripled to bring in four RBI’s. Dalton Dean had one RBI.
The 11-12 played Owensboro South last night and will play their fourth game today against Bowling Green East at 2:00 p.m. at Ephram White Park.
