Both the Logan County Lady Cougars and the Russellville Lady Panthers ended their season on Monday night in the 13th district tournament. The Lady Panthers did not hold up long against the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats and would fall 11-0 after five innings. The Lady Cougars would start out on top, but the Todd County Central Rebels would come back to win 9-7.


The Lady Panthers defense held the Lady Wildcats to only two runs in the first inning of their game. But by the second inning of the game the Lady Wildcats had increased their lead to 7-0. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Wildcats would wrap up the inning with 11 runs over the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers offense was not able to get any base runners and the Lady Wildcats would win 11-0.


The Lady Cougars were up next as they faced the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The competition was strong between these two teams, but the Lady Cougars had come out on top two times before in the regular season.


Sierra Morrow started the Lady Cougars off in the first inning after she hit an RBI double to score Meagan Ferguson. Brea Croslin would advance to home on a throw and senior Madison Abbott would get a hit to score Morrow. The Lady Cougars would start the game with a 3-0 lead after the first.


In the bottom of the third, the Lady Cougars would score two runs after Rachel Barnett was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Raegan Cole walked with the bases loaded. The Lady Cougars would lead 5-0 going into the fourth inning.


The Lady Cougars would hold their strong lead until the top of the fifth. The Lady Rebels would score two runs early in the inning and then hit a home run to bring in two more runs. The Lady Rebels would now only trail 4-5 to the Lady Cougars at the bottom of the fifth.


The Lady Cougars made a pitching change and the Lady Rebels would take advantage. They would go on a rally to score five runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Lady Cougars trailed 9-5 to the Lady Rebels.


In the bottom of the seventh, Barnett would get a hit to score Cates. Cole would also get her second RBI after she hit an RBI single to score senior Shelby Milam. But the Lady Rebels defense shut down the Lady Cougars before they would score anymore. The Lady Cougars would fall 7-9.


Raegan Cole and Rachel Barrnett led the Lady Cougars with two RBI’s each. Sierra Morrow and Madison Abbott finished with one RBI each.


Meagan Ferguson pitched for five innings for the Lady Cougars. Ferguson allowed four runs on three hits, walked two and struck out three. Cates came into the game in the sixth inning and allowed five runs on four hits, walked two and struck out one. Macy Meacham stepped in the game in the seventh inning and allowed no hits, no runs, and struck out two.
