Logan County pitcher, Caleb Bruner, pitched a perfect game for the Cougars on Tuesday night. The Cougars faced the Todd County Central Rebels on Tuesday and took a big win of 7-0. Bruner pitched all seven innings and allowed no hits, no runs, walked none and struck out 16 to seal the win for the Cougars.
The Cougars offense would get a slow start to their game on Tuesday. But they would finally score some runs in the third inning of the game. The Cougars would score their first run on an error and then Bruner would hit an RBI single that would bring in two more runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars would get the bats going and add four more runs. Michael Riley started the inning out after hitting a double. Riley would score after a single hit by Luke Woodall. Joe Holliday would bring in Woodall and Hunter Britt would score on an error.
Bruner would end the game in the top of the seventh inning after completing the perfect game. The Cougars would take the 7-0 victory. This win would also secure the Cougars the number one seed in the 13th district.
The Cougars had another win on Monday against the Trigg County Wildcats. The Wildcats would take an early lead after scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. But Bruner would step up in the bottom of the first and hit a home run, bringing in three runs for the Cougars.
The Wildcats would answer back in the top of the second with two more runs, but Holliday and Jacob Wood would score on an error in the bottom of the second to gain back their lead.
The Cougars would add three runs in the third and fourth innings to increase their lead to 8-4. The Wildcats would score another run in the top of the sixth, but the Cougars would step up in the bottom of the sixth. Luke Woodall would start the inning off with an RBI single. Bruner would score on an error and then Holliday would hit a two-run double.
Matt Harper stepped on the mound in the seventh inning and would strike out three to seal the Cougars 12-5 victory.
Bruner ended the game with three RBI’s, Holliday had two and Luke Woodall had one.
Jordan Hendrix pitched for the Cougars for four innings. Hendrix allowed six hits, four runs, walked two and struck out one. Michael Riley pitched for two innings and allowed two hits, one run, walked one and struck out two. Matt Harper pitched the seventh inning of the game and had three strike outs.
The Cougars will host the Glasgow Scotties tonight at home at 5:30.
