The Russellville teams played their last home game of the season on Tuesday night against Bowling Green High School. The Lady Panthers would have a bad night against the Lady Purples and have several turnovers, resulting in a 69-26 loss. The Panthers got down early against the Purples and were never able to make a comeback. The Panthers would fall 72-55. During this last home game, the teams would also recognize their seniors.
The Lady Panthers would have a rough start to the game. The Lady Purples defense would cause 17 turnovers in the first quarter of the game. The Lady Panthers would fall behind 3-31 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Panthers would pick up their game in the second quarter, but the Lady Purples would add 20 more points to their score. The Lady Panthers would fall back 15-51 at halftime.
The score of the game would result in a running clock throughout the second half of the game. The Lady Purples offense would slow down in the second half but their defense would still keep the Lady Panthers score low. The Lady Panthers would end the game with a loss of 26-69.
The Lady Panthers would recognize three seniors. These include Khalia Hampton, Shea Hampton and Devonna Sydnor. Senior Khalia Hampton would lead the Lady Panthers on Tuesday with 14 points and was recognized for scoring more than 1,000 points during her high school career.
Tonight the Lady Panthers will travel to Christian County to play their last regular season game. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Panthers would face the Purples next. The Panthers would not have a good start to the game and would quickly fall behind the Purples. The Purples would lead 24-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Purples offense would continue to work hard and increase their lead throughout the second quarter. The Panthers would fall behind 24-40 at the half.
During the third quarter the Panthers would begin to pick up their game. With a couple of minutes left in the third quarter, the Panthers would come within nine points of the Purples. But the Purples defense would hold the Panthers and end the third quarter with a 13 point lead of 53-40.
The Panthers would continue to fight hard in the fourth quarter, but the Purples would hold on to their lead. The Panthers would end the game with a loss of 55-72.
Lee McMurry would lead the Panthers with 13 points. Senior Christian Naylor would follow with 12 and senior Barrett Croslin and Pedro Rivera would finish with seven points each.
The Panthers would recognize two seniors this year. These include Barrett Croslin and Christian Naylor.
The 13th district tournament will be held next week at Logan County High School. The Lady Panthers will play on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and face the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats. The Panthers will play on Tuesday night at around 8:00 p.m. and will face the Todd County Central Rebels.
