The second Clash of the Cats game of the season was held on Friday at Russellville High School. The across town rivals battled throughout the night but the Logan County teams would take both wins of the night. The Lady Cougars would win 67-48 against the Lady Panthers. The Cougars would finish the night with a 76-64 win over the Panthers.

The Lady Cougars and the Lady Panthers had an intense start to the game. The two teams would start out close and the Lady Panthers would gain the lead halfway through the first quarter. The Lady Cougars would come back and take the lead of 13-12 over the Lady Panthers and hold on to the lead for the rest of the first quarter. They would end the quarter with a lead of 17-12.

The Lady Panthers were not ready to give up and fought hard in the second half. With a little over a minute left in the quarter the Lady Panthers would come back to tie the game 31-31. Even though the Lady Panthers would score 20 points in the second quarter, the Lady Cougars would still end the first half with a lead of 36-32.

The Lady Cougars would take off in the third quarter and their defense would only allow the Lady Panthers to score four points all quarter. This would result in a 15 point lead for the Lady Cougars with a score of 51-36 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Panthers would pick up their game in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Cougars would finish strong and end the game with a 67-48 win.

Kapreshia Powell led the Lady Cougars with 17 points. She was followed by Senior Katelyn Jones with 16 and Brooke Barnes with 10.

For the Lady Panthers, senior Khalia Hampton would lead with 27 points. She was followed by Devonya Bryant with seven and senior Devonna Sydnor with six.

The Cougars and the Panthers would go head to head in the second game of the night. The Cougars would have a great start to the game and start to pull away quickly from the Panthers. The Panthers would have trouble offensively, resulting in the Cougars ending the first quarter with a 21-11 lead.

The Panthers would begin to slowly climb towards the Cougars lead in the second quarter, but the Cougars would be able to hold on. The Cougars would lead 35-28 at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, the Panthers would pick up their game and start to put points up on the board. The Panthers defense would step up to hold the Cougars to only nine points in the quarter. The Panthers would end the third quarter with a lead of 46-44.

The two teams would battle hard in the fourth quarter and the Cougars would come back to tie the game 48-48 with six minutes left. The Cougars would then take off and end the quarter scoring 32 points. This resulted in a 73-64 win for the Cougars.

Ben Wright would lead the Cougars with 31 points. He was followed by senior Landon Stratton with 18 and Taylor Blakemore with 12.

Senior Barrett Croslin would lead the Panthers with 16 points. He was followed by senior Christian Naylor with 15 and Lee McMurry with 10.

The Logan County teams will have a double-header tonight at home against Rossview, Tenn. The Lady Cougars will play at 6 p.m. and the Cougars will follow.

The Russellville Panthers will play tonight at home against the Warren Central Dragons at 7:30. Both teams will face Todd County in a doubleheader this Friday.
