The Panther basketball team is having a slow start to their season after their loss to the Barren County Trojans on Saturday. The Panthers fell behind early in the game and were never able to recover as they fell 74-48 to the Trojans.


The Panthers started the game off closely trailing behind the Trojans, ending the first quarter only behind 14-21. But the Panthers would make some mistakes in the second quarter and the Trojans would quickly behind to gain a big lead over the Panthers. The Panthers would fall behind 42-24 at the half.


In the third quarter of the game, the Panthers would start to pick up their game, but the Trojans would play smart and cause the Panthers to make several mistakes. The Panthers would add 14 more points tho their score but the Trojans would end the third quarter up 60-38.


Even with a 22 point gap, the Panthers continued to fight in the fourth quarter of the game, but the Trojans would win 74-48.


Senior Christian Naylor would lead the Panthers on Saturday night with 16 points. Senior Barrett Croslin and Pedro Rivera would follow with seven points each. Micah Naylor and Jaylin McMurry would finish the game with six points each.


The Panthers will play their next game this Friday night against their district rivals, the Todd County Central Rebels. The game will be held at Todd County High School and the Panthers will play around 7:30.
