An elderly Muhlenberg County man died this week after suffering injuries in a car crash on Friday, July 11. on Dunmor Deerlick Road.


On Friday, July 11 at about 3:15 p.m., the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on KY 1293 (Dunmor Deerlick Road). Upon arrival and through investigation, it was discovered that 93-year-old Robert Lawton of Central City was traveling west on the road when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the left side of the roadway. His vehicle then hit a tree head on.


Lawton was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville and later died from his injuries on Sunday, July 13.


Logan County Sgt. Clint Wright is the investigating officer in this incident. He was assisted on the scene by Deputy Kyler Harvey, Lewisburg Police Chief Allan Alsup, Logan County EMS and the Dunmor Fire Department.
