Larry Jones has been hired by the City of Auburn to fill a part-time position in law enforcement. Jones officially began his duties for the city on Thursday, July 17.
Jones is a veteran law enforcement officer, having a lengthy history working in the field. He was employed for both the Russellville Police Department as well as the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.
Auburn’s Mayor Mike Hughes decided to hire a part-time officer soon after he appointed Ed Higgins as Chief of Police last month. Higgins took the place Ron Mills who resigned.
Hughes said he had wanted to try out hiring two part-time officers in the place of one full-time to see how that would work for the city.
