With just a few weeks away from the grand opening on Aug. 26, Newcomb Oil is getting excited to have its FiveStar Food Mart opened for business and offering a variety of services to the citizens of Logan County.
FiveStar is located on west 4th Street in Russellville where Swifty and other businesses were once located.
FiveStar Food Marts prides itself on providing excellent customer service and quality products, says Laura Blair, public relations manager for Newcomb Oil, the company who owns the convenient stores. Newcomb Oil Company serves as a jobber for BP and Marathon fuels, and Chevron lubricants, and Houghton Chemicals, from three locations in Central and Western Kentucky.
According to Blair, the company quickly saw an opportunity to become a presence in Russellville when the Swifty property became available. Two other properties were obtained as well, which included Shaker Reality owned by Pat Turner and the Blossom Shop owned by Phil and Janie Gregory.
The store is once of 70 FiveStar Food Marts that are located throughout the region. There are two other new stores under construction as well as the Russellville location, one in Lancaster and one in Paducha. The store in Russellville began construction in the spring of 2014.
“We think we are different in many ways in that we have a wide selection of items in our food service program,” said Blair. “From hot ready made breakfasts, to fresh salads, all made right in our store. Our employees make the items everyday fresh. This is one of the things that makes us different.”
There will be 14 fueling spots and a diesel dispenser at the new location in Russellville. This should help the flow of traffic when you are buying gas. The store itself is 3,740 square feet. The company is currently working on a new store design which could appear in the Russellville location.
“Russellville was just a perfect fit for our marketing plan,” said Blair.
FiveStar is more than just quality fuel and delicious, fresh food. They are also committed to providing helpful services and conveniences to their customers. They will offer money orders, prepaid cell phone service, an ATM, lottery tickets, a beer cave, freshly made foods each day, cappuccino machines, milk shake machines, and a variety of grocery and personal items.
