The Logan County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 75th Anniversary with an event for the entire community.
“Denim & Diamonds,” the theme, will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Logan County Ag Arena on the Bypass in Russellville. The doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. catered by the Logan County Cattlemen and Colonial Inn. Music will be performed by Sudden Impact and will begin at 7 p.m. and organizers expect the event to rap up around 9-ish.
This will be an informal event and will mimic a big barn dance says Chamber Executive Director Lisa Browning. Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a Chamber member to come out and have fun. Tickets are $20 each for Chamber members and $25 each for non-members. RSVP is June 18.
“Being the 75th President of the Chamber, I reflect often on the people of this great county who had the vision to charter such an organization. Their intuition of leadership through volunteerism, along with a deep sense of pride and love for their community, brought them together for the common good. I am very proud and honored to be a part of that great tradition,” Brent Summers, 2014 Chamber President said.
In planning for this event, the Chamber has been conducting the “Diamond Trail” on its FaceBook page. For 11 weeks, a different Chamber member each week has provided a clue to their identity via FaceBook. Whoever figures out the clue, just goes to the business to win a prize. So far, the following businesses have participated: Logan Eye Care Center, Gerald Printing, Bluegrass Recycling, Logan Telephone Coop, Daymar College, Lifeforce, Electric Plant Board, and H&R Agri Power. More still to come!
Door prizes will be given out during the entire evening. The finale prize is a pair of diamond earrings, donated by Walmart. Sponsors are Gerald Printing, Premier; Walmart, Diamond; Electric Plant Board, Ruby and Bluegrass Recycling, Sapphire.
“The Chamber is honored to be hosting this event in celebration of our 75th anniversary. Seventy-five years is a long time for any non-profit organization to exist. We are very fortunate to still be in Logan County and still going strong. Our longevity is a great indicator of the strength of the business community and the dedication of our volunteers. ‘Thank you’ to our great sponsors and volunteers! We could do nothing without you,” said Browning.
The Denim & Diamonds Planning Committee are Kristen Herndon- Logan Telephone, Mike McCormick- Chamber Board, Shane Hayes- Gerald Printing, Ron Barbe- Ventra Plastics, Holli Brown- First Southern National Bank and Holly Kash- Logan Eye Care Center.
T-shirts celebrating the anniversary are also available for $10 each. Order forms are at the Chamber and on the Facebook page.
“This event is another great opportunity to do something fun right here in Logan County. The entire evening is meant to be very relaxed, full of food, music, friends and prizes. Come on out and join us!” said Holli Brown, Denim & Diamond Chairperson.
