If you’ve traveling between Auburn and Russellville lately you have noticed the orange cones cutting a four lane highway down to two lanes. This is due to a resurfacing project which has temporally lowered the speed limit of 65 mph to 55 mph. Don’t fret, however, the speed with increase back to 65 mph after the project is complete.

Wes Watt, Public Information Officer for District 3 in Bowling Green, says the project will be completed on the US 68 mile point 14-21.

“On Wednesday, July 30 a contractor will begin milling and texturing as part of a 7-mile resurfacing project. There will be a lane closure in each direction on U.S. 68. Message boards and signs will be in place to direct traffic,” said Watt.

Motorists should be aware that the speed limit through this work zone will be 55 mph. This work is expected to be completed by Aug. 29, 2014.
