David L. Curtis, 56, was arrested Monday, July 7, 2014, on a charge of first degree sexual abuse.
On Sunday, July 6, at approximately 12.45 a.m., the Emergency Communications Center (ECC/911) received a complaint of sexual abuse involving a juvenile. The mother of the juvenile reported that Curtis had placed his genitals on the juvenile.
Detectives of the Russelville Police Department located Curtis and conducted an interview where he admitted to officers he had entered the juvenile’s bedroom in the early morning hours and placed his genitals on the nose of the juvenile.
Curtis admitted he was extremely intoxicated at the time of the incident and felt very sorry for his actions. He also said during the interview, that although he was very drunk, he knew his actions were wrong.
The interview was audio and video recorded. Curtis confirmed that his statements were truthful. After the interview, Curtis was arrested and taken to the Logan County Detention Center. He was issued a $25,000 bond.
On Wednesday, July 23 Curtis’s attorney entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client and scheduled a preliminary hearing on Aug. 7 at 1 p.m.
