A domestic violence call led the Russellville Police Department to find an indoor marijuana growing operation last week.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014, the RPD responded to 214 East 9th Street on a domestic violence call.

Upon arrival, Kevin Washer and his girlfriend, Melinda Harris, were involved in a verbal argument in the driveway behind the residence. Harris was trying to remove their son from the vehicle when Washer put the vehicle in reverse and backed up. Harris was struck by the door and fell to the ground, at which time the vehicle ran over his right leg.

Officers located Washer at his residence at 1018 Stuart Smotherman Road. While searching the residence for Washer, officers observed several marijuana plants being cultivated inside the home.

Was was arrested and charged with second degree assault (domestic violence) and cultivating marijuana, over five plants.

The RPD was assisted by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. The investigating officer was patrolman Chris Bellar.
