Seventy-five-year-old Lawrence Lee Bomar of North Beauchamp Road, lost his life Sunday, May 11 after being involved in a motorcycle accident on Joe Harper Road.

According to reports, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered Bomar was riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling westbound on Joe Harper Road when he failed to negotiate a curved section of the roadway and ran off the left shoulder and into an open field. Bomar was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown 107 feet into the field.

Bomar was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. On Tuesday, May 13, the hospital notified Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker that Bomar had succumbed to his injured and passed away.

Captain David Kitchens of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department is conducting the investigation which is ongoing. Captain Kitchens advised that excessive speed and alcohol are both believed to be contributing factors to the accident. Bomar was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Captain Kitchens was assisted at the scene by sheriff Whittaker and deputy Kyler Harvey.
