Firefighters use ‘Jaws of Life’

On Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at approximately noon, the Russellville Police Department responded to a vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a semi-truck and trailer. The collision occurred at the intersection of Sportsman Club Road and Woodland Drive in Russellville.

According to the police report, witnesses state the the passenger car, driven by 22-year-old Jessica Odell Leonard of Lewisburg, ran the stop sign and struck the semi-truck, driven by Tony Ragland of Bowling Green, in the side. Leonard then veered into an industrial sign before coming to rest.

Leonard suffered serious injuries and was transported to Greenview Hospital and then air lifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Ragland did not suffer any injuries.

The Russellville Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Russellville Fire Department and the Logan County Ambulance Service. The Jaws of Life were used to extract Leonard from the vehicle.
