There’s a new vet in town, but she’s no stranger to this community. Dr. Jenny Brown-Todd, who recently moved back home, hung out her shingle earlier this year as Logan County’s newest veterinarian, located on 153 Summer Street in Russellville, in the office where Dr. Jim Chambers once practiced.

Brown Animal Hospital is committed to high-quality care for your pet. This also includes a commitment to strong client/doctor communication.

“It is important that we respect your thoughts, opinions and concerns as well as share our veterinary knowledge with you,” said Dr. Brown-Todd. “In fact, client education is something we emphasize. Our entire health care team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of our clients and their pets.”

Dr. Brown-Todd grew up in Russellville, the daughter of Larry and Brenda Brown. Brenda is a renowned local artist who taught at the Russellville School system for years, retiring this year.

A 1998 graduate of Russellville High School, Dr. Brown-Todd earned her undergraduate degree in animal health technology with an emphasis on pre-vet studies at Murray State University in 2002, and then went on to graduate from Auburn University in 2008, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Brown-Todd is very happy to have the opportunity to open her practice in the town she grew up in. Before moving back home, Dr. Brown-Todd worked at a mixed animal facility in Columbia, Tenn. until she later accepted an associate position in a small animal exclusive hospital in Nashville, Tenn. She remained at this facility practicing general medicine, including preventative medicine and management, as well as serving as primary surgeon with an emphasis on soft tissue, up until April of 2014.

Dr. Brown-Todd now resides back on the family farm with her husband, Phil “Coach Todd,” as well as their dog Franklin and a rescue kitty named TW. She’s very excited to return to her roots, reuniting with old friends and forming new relationships with the residents here in Russellville.

Dr. Brown-Todd says she has wanted to help animals since she was very young. She grew up on a farm and had lots of different animals including: cattle, sheep, dogs, cats, chickens, you name it. In fact, Dr. Brown-Todd’s kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Gerri Woodlee recalls Jenny saying she was going to become a veterinarian when in her class.

“My philosophy is to practice quality medicine affordably in a friendly atmosphere. I am thankful for this opportunity,” Dr. Brown-Todd says. “It was a perfect opportunity to come back home.”

Brown Animal Hospital is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information you can visit her website at info@drbrownanimal.com or call 270-726-6098.

All after hour emergencies are referred to: RPEC Rivergate Pet Emergency Center 910 Meadowlark Lane, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. Phone (615) 859-3779.
