Joe and Linda Penick of Allensville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Douglas Penick of Fayetteville, to Thomas Duggin Hastings of Taft.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Breakfield, the late Douglas Penick and of Nona Penick of Allensville.

A 2003 graduate of Todd County High School, Miss Penick earned a bachelor’s of science degree in biology, agriculture from Western Kentucky University in 2008. She earned a masters of science in biology from Western Kentucky University in 2010.

Miss Penick is employed as a soil conservationist at the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Fayetteville.

The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late F.C. and Betty Duggin, the late Ralph and Ann Hastings and of Janice Carr of Fayetteville.

Mr. Hastings is a 1999 graduate of Lincoln County High School. He earned a bachelor’s in history from the University of Tennessee in 2003, a masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of Tennessee in 2004, and an Ed.S. in administration and supervision from Tennessee State University in 2007.

He is employed by the Lincoln County Board of Education as an AP and Honors U.S. History teacher at Lincoln County High School.

The couple will wed June 7 at 2 p.m. at Allensville Church of Christ in Allensville.
