FOR PETE’S SAKE MOTHER NATURE TURN IT OFF!
MOTHER NATURE, this is the last time I am going to tell you to turn off that “#@%&*!” RAIN. I felt so sorry for all the people who were in Wal-Mart on Friday gathering all the food they could possibly haul out to their car. Standing in line for ever and just as they got all their “party plans and party food” ready to eat; guess what happened…..you know THE BOTTOM FELL OUT OF THE SKY AND IT RAINED.
My poor neighbor had company coming and they stood on the porch until the rain stopped long enough to grill and then they ran inside to enjoy all their goodies. But you would not believe about two hours later the sun came out and every boat that thought about getting on Lake Malone was passing by my house with something hanging on the back; be it a float or a pair of those little sticks that I call skis!
I really got a thrill when a friend called to invite us to dinner. She said she was cooking since it was raining and she couldn’t go outside so we just took her up on her invitation and enjoyed all kinds of food. Of course when we got back my neighbor said they went up to Shady Cliff to listen to the music from their boat. Boo Hoo….I nearly cried. Lost out again.
Sunday came and I was looking forward to boat church and you guessed it! IT RAINED….NOT A SPRINKLE; A FULL BLOWN WIND BLOWING STORM! I missed the food they were going to give out and most important, the message and all the beautiful music! What on earth was Mother Nature thinking of; No Church of Sunday!
Well, it’s Labor Day; we get up and look forward to a sun shiny day. I pushed the button on my little phone and it said that we were going to have a great day and the rest of the week was going to be rain. Well, it looked a little dark and gloomy but I thought that will change any minute. But NO…NO…NO. I had my bathing suit on ready to do a little heavy duty floating on the lake. Then the sky got even darker and darker and once again, it was rain! I just came in the house and got out my favorite book, kicked back in my chair with my feet up and began to read. The Hubby came by and said aren’t you going to get out in the lake. I had to ask him if he was blind or could not hear! IT IS RAINING! Oh, he says, I didn’t notice! Yep, you got it, I lost it and he said, “don’t look at me”, I didn’t tell it to rain.
Thanks goodness after a few other rain “stops and starts”, I went to my neighbor and asked if she would like to get in the water. She said, no way, the water is so cold. I don’t know what happened but it’s really cold. So there when my opportunity to swim this Labor Day.
After trying to get all their stuff dried out before they packed up to go home, they said they had to go and cut grass and would see us next week end. Hopefully it won’t rain!
As I am writing this little note to you, thank goodness the sun is out once again, boats are flying all over the place and kids are screaming and having fun. It is so strange, I guess no one will remember how much rain we had this holiday weekend but I can guarantee you, I WILL!
Till next week, I would like to say that even though it was bad weather on the lake, it is the most beautiful place to be anytime. I am so fortunate to be here and even more fortunate to be able to tell you all about it. Once again, enjoy the moment; I do even though it is raining! Bye now!
