Wouldn’t you know when needed most, that particular item can’t be found. I’ve misplaced my big plaid umbrella I bought in London a few years ago. Thank God it was needed this week, but my little folding umbrella was almost useless.

Seems this time of year takes it’s toll on a number of people. I personally, think it sometimes results from darting in and out of air conditioning. Although we love it, sometimes when we dress for comfort due to the weather, the air conditioner gives us a chill.

While attending a wedding shower for my granddaughter at Lost River Cave meeting room, I had to stand outside to try and warm up. I noticed the gift shop was open so I trekked over there and bought a Lost River cover up. While not very attractive for the occasion, it was another layer of clothing. No we could not raise the temperature, as the thermostat was locked and couldn’t be changed.

Both Auburn Sr. Center and Russellville Senior Center have directors who have maladies at present. April Pawley had to make a doctors visit the week. Cheryl Kerchenski had to postpone this week’s Arthritis Foundation Exercise class until next Tuesday. Wish both of these busy women well.

Don’t forget, the Auburn Seniors are compiling a cookbook. Choose some of your favorite or family recipes and join them on Thursday’s following the exercise class. For all information on coming events at the Auburn center, either drop by for a schedule and a chat, or call 270-542-8223.

Glad to see Tommy Hayes out and about following his second shoulder replacement. Seems his arm was too heavy for the first one, and pulled it out of socket. His doctor has now put in a new stronger one.

Jerry Rust, got his knee, and is having physical therapy at home. Kathy, with the stress of the last few months is now dealing with shingles. Wish you both a quick recovery.

Thanks to Carol Howard for the really interesting magazine she gave me, along with the jars of relishes and salsas. It’s the Kentucky Monthly, a fine quality printing with interesting stories about our state, upcoming events, and places to visit. I read it from cover to cover.

Speaking of upcoming events, the City Council meeting is on next Monday evening at city hall. The annual Auburn Autumn Days begins Friday evening September 19, with the fund raising dinner and auction at the Sr. Center. The downtown daytime events are on the square Saturday, September 20.

Come out and enjoy visiting with neighbors and friends. That’s all for now. I’m nursing an eye that’s swollen shut.

Hope you have a blessed day.
