Thank you Lord for the much needed rain. It was so wonderful seeing the rain pour down and knowing that the plants, grass and flowers were being nourished. God is good!

Please continue to pray for the Lamont Cross family. There is a benefit for him and his family this Saturday night, August 23rd at Wild Goose Pay Lake, Hwy 178 West. Fishing tournament at 10 a.m., benefit auction at 6 p.m. There will be numerous items for auction. Food, drinks, popcorn, music, corn hole and face painting for children. If you would like to donate you can drop off your item or money to Lamont Cross Benefit, 841 Hopkinsville Road, Russellville, Kentucky 42276. For information call 270-726-8553. I understand his wife and children are trying to make the trip to Atlanta every weekend to see him so you know this is draining on then financially. He has moved some of his fingers and maybe a toe. Keep those prayers going for this young family.

Please also keep a cousin of mine in your prayers. She lost her daughter a couple of weeks ago and then lost her brother Sunday. He was so happy and cracking jokes just a couple of weeks ago then went in for a routine procedure on Tuesday and was coming home on Saturday, but that didn’t happen. When I think of him I smile. I hope when I’m gone and people think of me they smile. What a legacy that would leave.

Don’t forget to be getting your things together for the City Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, September 6th. I’ve heard of several having them so should be a good day for finding treasures.

Also, that night anyone that remembers and/or danced to the music of the Monarchs, there is going to be a night of remembrance for the Monarchs at the Barn at Oakville. Music will be the songs played by the Monarchs. William Locke has worked with Vickie and they have put together all those great songs that we all enjoyed listening and dancing to. Roy’s Barbeque will be there for you to get food, so should be a fun night.

The fiber optic people are working tirelessly to get it put in here in Adairville. I know it has inconvenienced some at times but it will be a great thing when it is finished.

Remember our sick, Mary Ann Davis is back in the hospital. Keep her and her family in your prayers. Also, Tony Sircy had a scare last week with some chest pain and they will be running tests soon on that, so remember him. Anyone else that I don’t know about our prayers are that you will all feel the Healing hand of God on you.

Coffee Bottom Girl

As I sat at the funeral home a couple of weeks ago, I listened to stories from my mother’s family. One of my cousins was laughing about my article about her husband getting thrown out of Adairville because of his temper during a ballgame. She said I should never run out of material to write about as much as this family had gotten into. We really got to laughing about the time her husband and her brothers had built this giant snowman. Well they went in the house and bragged about how they had built the indestructible snowman. Well, my Uncle Pete said if they didn’t shut up he was going to show them how indestructible it was. He would run over it. Well Larry being the sort of guy he was just wouldn’t shut up. Uncle Pete proceeds to get up and go get in his car. Larry stands in front of it to keep him from running over it. Well, lo and behold, he runs over Larry and the snowman and says “I guess you’ll shut up now.” Larry wasn’t hurt bad other than his pride, but Uncle Pete taught him a lesson. You know if people did that today, there would probably be a shooting, lawsuit or something but they all thought it was a hilariously funny story.

A hui hou kāko

“May the road rise up to meet you

May the wind be always at your back

May the sun shine warm upon your face

And the rain fall soft upon your fields

And until we meet again

May God hold you in the palm of his hand”
