8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. 12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine. Ezekiel 47:8-12 (KJV)
Notice that the fruit is on the bank not in the river. The banks are the boundaries where the rivers flow. River in the Bible is symbolic for life. Life has to flow through boundaries. A life that produces fruit is a life that has boundaries. Where there are marshes there is no life. Marsh is water with no banks. There is no healing in a life without boundaries, no fruit bearing lives without boundaries. When I have purpose then I have boundaries and it is in the boundaries of my life where God can bless me with fruitfulness. When your life is anything goes then anything is acceptable because there are no boundaries. And then you wonder why God is not blessing you it is because God will not bless where there is no boundaries. When Nehemiah went to rebuild the city he had to start with the walls. Because the walls are boundaries that keep what is good in and what is not good out.
The reason people have terrible habits in their life is because they have no boundaries in their life. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. The word perishes means without restraint. When Israel was delivered from Egypt the deliverance was half the process. They had to go through the wilderness before they reached the promise land. The wilderness is a place to renew your mind. Getting you out of Egypt is one thing but getting Egypt out of you is another. They had a mindset of a slave, now God needed to give them a mindset of a son.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 (KJV)
And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth
it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it;
because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
