And the Spirit and the bride say come. And let him that heareth say, come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev. 22:17 KJV
We have in these last few verses of the written word of God words directly from the lips of Jesus Christ. First we see that the Spirit of God says come. We know that no man can come to God except he is drawn by God. The Spirit here refers to the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. The bride also says come. The Lord’s church preaches the gospel and when God’s Spirit takes that seed and puts it in the heart of men and women they are saved.
We then see that he that is athirst is invited to come, whosoever will let him drink of the water of life freely. The whosoever wills are those that are thirsty.
Now let me ask you, how does a person become spiritually thirsty? God creates a thirst and only He can do this. This water is free. Salvation is a gift of free and sovereign grace. Since God has to create that thirst we see one more time salvation is all of God’s choosing and grace.
