Two arrested in traffic stop, drugs tossed from vehicle


On Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at approximately 7:21 p.m., the Logan County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a 1995 Buick on Highland Lick Road. Upon activating the blue lights, the vehicle made an abrupt left-hand turn into a driveway at 1980 Highland Lick Road nearly striking a mailbox.

Deputies observed a large object being thrown from the passenger window and landing on the ground next to the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was found that the driver, William Boggs, 33, of Lewisburg, had thrown out a glass jar containing approximately half an ounce of marijuana and 30 methadone pills.

Boggs was taken into custody and charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, first offense (methadone); trafficking in marijuana (less then eight ounces), 1st offense; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substance not in proper container, and failure of non owner to maintain insurance 1st offense.

A passenger in the Boggs vehicle, Cody Knight, of Russellville, was taken into custody on a related warrant.

Sergeant Clint Wright of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating deputy. He was assisted by Sergeant Robert Toombs and deputy Kyler Harvey, also of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, and Russellville Police Officer Bill Moore.
