Russellville schools to close for eclipse

Russellville Independent Schools had originally planned to attend school on Eclipse Day, Monday, Aug. 21. However, after gathering parent feedback, meeting with our local police officials, mayor Mark Stratton, some of our school personnel, and after consulting with our Board Attorney, Superintendent Bart Flener, has concluded that the safest decision for all of our students and staff is to cancel school for Monday, Aug. 21.

The make-up day will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

“I am sorry that we won’t be able to share this wonderful learning opportunity with our students, but we will be doing lessons associated with the solar eclipse and providing some suggested activities for the students to share and enjoy the eclipse with their families on that special day,” Flener said.
