The July meeting of the Logan County Farm Bureau Federation was held at the Schochoh Community Center. Bobby Dawson grilled ribeye steak sandwiches to complete the pot luck meal enjoyed by all. Several elected officials were in attendance. The guest speaker was Mike Sulfridge, President of the Kentucky Alternative Livestock Association. He gave an interesting presentation concerning raising deer to sell to hunting preserves in Kentucky. Deer farming is one of the fastest growing industries in rural America and can be very profitable once you have met all the requirements associated with this type of operation.

This annual picnic event gives Farm Bureau an opportunity to express its appreciation to those who hold office, for the work they do on behalf of farmers and agriculture in general. The elected officials were given the opportunity to speak on subjects that were of interest and concern to those present.

Following the meal, 1st Vice President Doug Milliken conducted the FB July business meeting. Thank you cards were read from the Institute Of Future Agriculture Leaders (IFAL) participants Maggie Hayes, Kennedy Campbell and Jessalyn Robey. Grant Hildabrand gave the board an update on the Young Farmer Summer Outing. Jay and Trisha Campbell will be participating in the Ag Excellence contest. Lilly Robertson will be participating in the Discussion Meet contest. Preliminary plans were made for the annual meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Sept. 9th at the Extension office. The Logan County FFA members are planning to prepare and serve the meal.
