Students were back in class in the Russellville Independent School District on Wednesday.

At Stevenson Elementary, there was a lot of excitement as new principal Lisa White greeted students and parents on the first day of school.

Students enjoyed a grab-and-go breakfast while teachers made announcements and put away supplies. Mid-morning, students went to the gym for a school-wide assembly that covered introduction of teachers, a video about restroom expectations (staring SES teachers), and a short discussion of the reasons that SES strives to be a Bully-Free School.

After lunch, the students went outside to practice dismissal procedures. After a successful dismissal practice, students received popsicles and returned to their classrooms.

Students also were back in class at the Russellville senior and junior high school complex.

For the first time this year, all students in the district will be receiving free breakfast and lunch every day.
