April 7, 2014

Cathy Ashby Kolb, a special education teacher for fourth and fifth grade at Moore Elementary in Clarksville, Tenn., and formerly of Logan County, recently received the Teacher of the Year Award for the fifth through eighth grade level.

Cathy is the daughter of Eugene and Helen Ashby and sister of Patricia Jenkins. She is a 1975 graduate of Chandlers High School and a 1979 graduate of Western Kentucky University. Cathy received her masters and EDS Rank I and Austin Peay University and has taught for a total of 32 years in several schools systems, including Lawton, Okla., Germany and Clarksville.

“There never been a time that I didn’t love schools,” Kolb said. “My parents’ top priority was education. I had so many relatives who were teachers, and my mom was the cafeteria manager.”

Cathy will now go on and compete at the state level for Teacher of the Year for the state of Tennessee.
