Close to $29,000 was collected on behalf of Seth and Kelly Whittaker Saturday night during a benefit fundraiser for the couple at Logan County High School. Over 800 people came out to support the newlywed couple, who were recently were faced with daunting circumstances when Kelly was involved in a terrible car accident on Jan. 22.

“I cannot say enough about all those who came out to support my son and daughter-in-law,” said sheriff Wallace Whittaker. “It was truly overwhelming.”

An auction was held with dinner and music. People from all over Logan County and other counties came out to help the couple. Kelly, who came home from Vanderbilt Hospital the end of February, was sent back last week suffering pneumonia, however, she came to the event and stayed throughout with husband Seth.

Kelly has been a trooper through it all. She has undergone numerous emergency surgeries and the strenuous therapy that has followed, but has come through all and beat the odds which were against her. Her husband Seth, who is a Russellville Police Officer said Kelly’s improvement is all owed to God and his answered prayers.

Money generated from the benefit will help pay the mounting bills the couple has incurred since the accident.
