The hunt is on for a grocery store to serve Adairville and south Logan County. It does not require a real large store. A small one would do and also be profitable. There are buildings available now right on the town square. One good site is the location of the former Hide A Way Store near the four way stop sign on the square. Another is the Walter Ray Clinard Building next to the café on the square. There are at least two more locations nearby. We just need the right grocery people to come on in. I wish that the Harvest would open a branch in Adairville or the Hoovers that once ran a larger store in town would come back. (I have given up on the young fellow that owns the old Hoover IGA location. (That site is too expensive to operate.) If I were 20 years younger I would give it a go, but I am not so I strongly support someone coming in and I will help with community support.
Hopefully the Adairville Community is going to get behind the upcoming fund raiser for the young daughter-in-law of Sheriff Wallace Whitaker. She received brain injuries in a well publicized auto accident in the county last month. She and her young husband, who is new in law enforcement need our help and support. Adairville that is not a rich community seems to always lead the county in the effort of giving for others. I hope we will again. Watch the news and my column for updates.
There are a number of Adairville folks that are in nursing homes in Springfield as well as Russellville. Take the time to stop in and see them. It will make them feel so much better and you as well. Just make them time. Call up a friend and get them to go with you.
If you are a senior or shut in and need some help in the coming days, weeks or months you might call the Adairville School. Ask if they have a young student who could use a few hours work after school or on a Saturday. A few dollars would help them and you as well.
Brother Bill Cowan, minister at the Adairville Living Word Church, remains in a rehabilitation center in Bowling Green. I understand he is making progress. He has been the minister at the local area church for some 47 or more years. His father served the church and the community for a number of years before Brother Bill. Keep him in your prayers. He has been a great teacher of the Bible for many many years.
Now is the time to stop in the Adairville Hardware store and stock up on winter items. Salt for your steps and walkways, a shovel, scraper for your car windows, gloves, thermos for hot coffee or cocoa, spray to unlock frozen car doors and several other items. An extra gas can is another good item to obtain and keep a little extra gas in the truck of your car. I think the hardware store still has some warm hats and ear muffs. Check them out.
You might stop in at Ms. Nancy’s Gift Shop across from the BP on South Main. Mr. Tim and his sweet wife have some items that you might be interested in I know they have some University of Kentucky throws that keep you warm on a cold winters day or at a ball game. It is the only shop in the county that has their on live trumpet player who will play you a song while you shop. There are lots of great gifts as well.
See John Barnes for just about any kind of insurance you want. He and his son will write you a money saving policy. You can live anywhere in the county. Home owners, renters, business, farmers, equipment, auto, truck, motorcycles, boats, your sore foot and just about any kind. Just call and talk with one of the ladies or the men.
Trimbles Service Center & Napa Auto Parts have several sales going on right now. Tires, antifreeze, oil, parts and the like are all available. They are giving free air for your tires this week. Stop in and see them.
Time to go If you have any news please call me at cell 615-389-5495 or home 571-0888.
Till next time. Good night all the ladies of Adairville and Mrs. Calabash where ever you are.
