The Logan County basketball teams had big district wins on Friday night against Todd County. The Lady Cougars finished off the night with a 50-34 win over the Lady Rebels. The Cougars would fight hard and take a 76-63 win over the Rebels.
The Lady Cougars and the Lady Rebels would have a close start to their game. The Lady Cougars kept pushing hard and would take the lead of 15-12 at the end of the half. The Lady Cougars and the Lady Rebels would continue to battle it out in the second quarter. Both teams would fight for the lead, and the Lady Cougars would win that fight as they led 29-25 at the half.
The Lady Cougars would take off in the second half of the game, leaving the Lady Rebels behind. The Lady Cougars would finish the game with a win of 50-34.
Senior Katelyn Jones would lead the Lady Cougars with 14 points. Jones was followed by Kapreshia Powell with 11.
The Cougars would play next and have a good start to the game. They would make smart plays and end the first quarter with a five point lead of 17-12. The Rebels would make a comeback in the second quarter and be able to take the lead away from the Cougars. The Cougars would trail 29-39 at the end of the first half.
In the third quarter, the Cougars would pick up their game and get their lead back. The Cougars would have a five point lead of 45-40 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was huge for the Cougars as they scored 31 points. This would seal their district win with a score of 76-63 over the Rebels.
Senior Landon Stratton and Taylor Blakemore would lead the Cougars with 20 points each. Ben Wright would follow with 13 points.
The two teams are scheduled for a double-header tonight against Edmonson County. The Lady Cougars game will start at around 6 and the boys will follow around 7:30 at home.
