The Russellville Lady Panthers played their first home game on Saturday against the Barren County Trojanettes. The young Lady Panthers team struggled the first half of the game and would fall far behind the Trojanettes. The Lady Panthers would end the game with a loss of 59-38.
Both teams would start the game off slow and end the first quarter close together in points. The Lady Panthers would still lack intensity in the second quarter, but the Trojanettes would take off and gain a big lead over the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers would fall behind 25-10 after only scoring three points in the second quarter.
The Lady Panthers would come back from halftime and turn it up. The Trojanettes would still have a large lead, but the Lady Panthers would fight hard to score 15 points in the quarter, bringing the score the 25-47 going into the fourth quarter.
Even though there was a big gap in points, the Lady Panthers never gave up in the fourth quarter and continued fighting on. The Lady Panthers defense would slow down the Trojanettes and their offense would keep scoring. But in the end, the Trojanettes would take the victory of 59-38 over the Lady Panthers.
Senior Khalia Hampton would be the driving force for the Lady Panthers during the game. Hampton ended the game with 24 points for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Panthers will play their next game on Friday night against their district rivals, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The game will be held at Todd County High School starting at 6 p.m.
