Can tabs for Shriners due Dec. 6

November 18, 2013

Jana Hanks reminds all can tab collectors that the deadline is soon approaching for all can tabs to be turned in to go toward this year’s donations. All donations are due on Friday, December 6 in the offices of Hanks Construction Company/East Logan Water District at 399 East Logan Water District in Auburn. We are very excited that Bluegrass Recycling in Russellville has again agreed to jump on board and will be making another very nice monetary contribution to go along with the can tab donation for Shriners.

The can tab campaign has been going on for years and is on-going. Tabs are dropped off all year long in many ways. The tabs come in several ways, anywhere from Ziploc bags, Wal-Mart/Dollar General Bags, coffee cans, milk jugs, shoe boxes, and five gallon buckets. “We will accept can tabs in any container that they are collected in”, says Jana, who so much appreciates everyone that genuinely help support this worthy cause. The can tabs can come from anything from soup cans, pet food cans, soda cans, vegetable cans, juices and more. It only takes a second to “pop the top” and the can tabs add up very fast.

The money from the can tab collections goes to support things such as special wheelchairs, patient clothing, magazine subscriptions, bingo prizes, Spanish board games, Christmas trees for the hospital and even helps to provide transportation for the patients to and from the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Jana continues to remind all collectors in Auburn and Logan County that several years ago when the first donation of a dually truck load was delivered to Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati that the staff there told her that the donation was even larger than the donation from the City of Louisville, and that makes her very proud of our very caring community.

The donation this past year was well over $2,200 and our goals are set high to exceed that this year. Monetary donations are also accepted if you are not a can tab collector and every single penny raised goes directly to support the needs of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Remember, due date to go in this years donation is Friday , December 6. The offices are open Monday thru Friday, 8 am till 4:30 p.m. It’s amazing to see how easy it is that everyone CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE just collecting can tabs for Shriners.

All monetary donations can also be dropped off at Hanks Construction Company/East Logan Water District or mailed to the attention of Jana Hanks, PO Box 74, Auburn, KY 42206. Jana can also be reached at 270-725-7091.
