Parents, beware of deception

Dear Editor:

We are living in the days of great deception. The Bible says it will be this way in the last days. Deception in politics and also religion. I am greatly concerned for our children today, for what they are being taught at home, schools and yes, even churches. But it all falls back on the parents. The Bible teaches us to discern the truth. 1 Corinthians 2:14. It teaches us to discern the times. Matthew 6:3, Romans 13:11. It teaches us to discern the spirits. 1 John 4:1. The days of evil and darkness are upon us.

There is a book and will be a movie out that is being taught in many school systems today. It has violence, bloodshed, some bad language in it and so forth. It amazes me today that as many school shootings that we are having all over this land and because schools have to have security systems in place that this kind of material is exposed to our children. In this book called “Hunger Games,” you have to kill your own friends so you can be the last person standing. I know that there are many who will defend this book, but there is no justification for it. These types of books and movies are playing Russian roulette with the minds of our children. Please read Philippians 4:6-9.

If we have zero tolerance for weapons in and around our schools and if a child even brings a toy gun to school, he is disciplines, then why are these books being taught and they are taking our children to the movies to see them. There is a double standard here. It bothers me that we have Christian people more upset over the banning of these books than they were over taking prayer out of our schools.

Parents, I am asking you to stand up and protect your children from the darkness of evil. Christians cannot judge for themselves what they think is right, but they have to apply Biblical principles.

Logan County School system, I would like to remind all of you that we have not had a school shooting like Columbine. But if we continue to have such books in our schools taught, it’s coming. Read Galatians 6:7.

In closing, I would like to give some scripture that applies to this book. Read for yourself and ask God what you should do. Do not listen to other people, but listen to God. Isaiah 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:21-21, Exodus 20:13, Philippians 4:8-9. Parents, beware of deception, discern the truth, discern the times, discern the spirits.

The review of this movie can be found on Thursday evening the 21st on
