For nearly six decades Bro. Joe Carrico coordinated the efforts to ensure every child in Logan County had a toy at Christmas. This organization, formerly Toys for Tots Logan County, has changed it’s name to reflect his love and commitment to our community.
On Friday, Nov. 15, from 1-5 p.m., WRUS Radio Station AM 610, will host a annual radiothon in support of these efforts. All proceeds will benefit the efforts of Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas.
On the air that afternoon will be wonderful guest hosts including: Don Neagle, Mack Mallory, Tim Harris, Scooter Davis and Myla Thomas. Plus, Mike Humble and Janice Humble, and many others involved in this terrific community outreach. They’ll be joined by folks that have been helped directly by Bro. Joe and this organization.
Organizers are asking that you, your family, group, business or organization to determine what amount you can afford to give to make sure every child in our community has a toy to open at Christmas. Logan Telephone Cooperative, Inc. has made it possible to accept your pledges and donations over the phone. Just call 270-542-TOYS (270-542-8697). You can also drop donations off at WRUS, First Southern National Bank locations and Crabtree Furniture.
Please tune in Friday afternoon, and give whatever amount you can afford to continue the legacy of Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas.
If you know of anyone that has been impacted by Bro. Joe’s Christmas ministry and would like to share their story, either by going to WRUS, calling in, or by taping, please call either 726-7109 or the radio station at 726-6100.
It’s also time for the annual Bro. Joe’s Country Ham Breakfast, which also benefits the Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas. Tickets for the breakfast are on sale now. But you can also drop by and grab a bite that morning.
The tickets are $6 each with the meal consisting of country ham, eggs, gravy and biscuits, and a drink for those dining in. Carry out and delivery will be available. Breakfast will be served from 5:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Logan County Ag Extension Office located at 255 John Paul Rd., Russellville. You may purchase tickets by calling 542-TOYS or 726-7109.
All proceeds go to purchase toys and food for families in need in Logan County. The Agape Service Foundation are organizing the event.
