An active burglary ring was busted up this week thanks to the hard work of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the Russellville Police Department.
The incident that lead to the break came on Nov. 1, when the Logan County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a burglary on Bucksville Road in the Auburn area.
When officers arrived, they found that the front door had been kicked in and several items from the home had been stolen.
During the course of investigating the burglary, three suspects were found and charged in connection with the crime.
Joshua B. Porter, 20 of Russellville, was charged with second degree burglary, receiving stolen property (under $10,000), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Justin K. Whitmon, 23 of Lewisburg, was charged with second degree burglary and receiving stolen property (under $10,000).
And Cody M. Gormley, 19 of Russellville, was also charged with second degree burglary and receiving stolen property (under $10,000).
All three suspected were arrested and lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that these suspects and additional suspects were involved in other burglaries in the Lewisburg and Russellville area.
And through additional investigation, Ryan Pomorin was arrested last week for burglaries in the Lewisburg area - including the break-in of the Lewisburg T-Mart back on July 14.
Pomorin was also charged in connection with several burglaries that occurred in Russellville during this past summer.
Sheriff Wallace Whittaker says that he anticipates several more arrests will be made in this case.
The case is being handled by Detective Charles Dauley of the Sheriff’s Office and Detective Kenneth Edmonds of the Russellville Police Departments.
“Both departments were very fortunate to be able to make arrests in the cases,” Whittaker said. “It appeared these subjects were involved in at least 10 burglaries that occurred in Logan County and the city of Russellville.”
