The city of Russellville and Main Street Russellville would like to invite you to a Veterans Day program Monday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Old Train Depot located on 2nd Street in Russellville.
The Logan County High School Color Guard will be present, along with the school’s ROTC. They and the Fort Campbell Color Guard will work together in presenting the flags. The National Anthem will be preformed by Joshua Baldwin and Clay Bilyue.
“We hope to see all our area veterans and their families at this program to celebrate their service to our country and to celebrate the history that took place at the train depot,” said Darlene Gooch of main Street Russellville. “We will have a speaker from Fort Campbell.”
According to Gooch, RJ Corman is allowing organizers to use the train depot for this program.
“I think of all of the history that this building has seen makes it a good location for this event,” said Gooch. “Soldiers left from there, came home on their furloughs through there, and those that lost their lives on the battlefield were brought back to Logan County in their flag draped coffins to this depot. It has been witness to lots of laughs, tears and anxious moments.”
