Two women lost their lives Sunday, Nov. 3, at the intersection of Bethel and 4th streets after a vehicle they were in traveled through the intersection and hit a sign at the Walgreens. Brandy J. English, 32, of Russellville and Lisa M. English, 19, of Bowling Green were both killed, while 25-year-old Daniel Hampton of Bowling Green and an 11 year-old juvenile where life-flighted to Nashville, Tenn.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., according to reports, the Russellville Police Department were notified of an accident at the intersection of Bethel and 4th Streets involving one vehicle. Upon initial investigation, it was determined that a 1999 GMC pickup truck, driven by Brandy J. English, was traveling eastbound on Hopkinsville Road when it traveled through the intersection at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then struck a Walgreen’s sign head-on and came to rest in the Walgreen’s parking lot.
The driver of the vehicle and one passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by Logan County Coroner Mary Givens. Two other passengers, including an 11-year-old juvenile were transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Hospital where they are currently listed in critical, but stable condition.
The accident is being investigated by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Russellville Police Department. Speed and the use of “inhalants” are believed to be a contributing factor. The accident is still under investigation.
