Local moms and supporters bring awareness to Autism

The first World Autism Awareness Day was held at the Russellville City-County Park on Wednesday, April 2nd. This special day was held in conjunction with Autism Awareness Month. “Light it Up Blue” was the theme, and over 50 supporters came out that day to share a message and support those with autism. Blue balloons were released into the sky representing a child in the community with autism and someone who loves them. It was a great day and a great start to an event that is hoping to be held for years to come.

Logan gymnasts excel in meet

Logan County Gymnastics held its annual Winter Fun Gymnastics AAU sanctioned meet this past December. There were over 170 individual competitors on 10 teams from gymnastics facilities around the state of Kentucky. The day began with level 1 competitors and finished up with advanced level 8 gymnasts. Auburn’s Oberhausen publishes, shares story about Type 1 Diabetes

Caitlynn Oberhausen, of Auburn, recently wrote, illustrated and published a book on the facts and myths of type 1 diabetes, a topic she is all to familiar with, having been diagnosed herself before attending college.“It was very surprising when I found out I had type 1 diabetes,” said Caitlynn, a 2011 graduate of Logan County High School. “It definitely took some adjustment, but I’m okay, and pretty much live a normal lifestyle.”
