The Panthers went on the road last Thursday to attempt a first district win for both the boys and girls teams. Russellville got what they came for as both teams left Franklin-Simpson High School with victories.

The Panthers (6-9) got 19 points from Jacob Naylor in the 64-49 thumping of the Wildcats. Devin Quarles hit five free-throws and finished with 12. Akeem Dukes scored nine, and Rooster Woodard hit four shots for eight points.

The Lady Panthers picked up their second win of the season in Franklin. The final score was 61-52. It was also an important district win. Russellville moves into third place in the 13th district with the victory.

Deshala Leblanc scored 22 in the game. Anastasia Dowlen lit up the Lady Cats with 20 points and 19 rebounds.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers will play in the 4th Region All "A" Classic this week at Clinton County.
