Logan County's Life Choice Pregnancy Care Center not only cares for the pregnant mother who has nowhere to turn, but also the women who may be living with the pain caused by decisions made that may be haunting them and keeping them from living a life God wishes for them.

There are many women who feel alone and abandon and feel their choices are limited. Life Choice wants to reach out to these women and help them with no judgment attached.

One of the many ways the center is reaching out includes a new program called "Surrendering the Secret: Healing the Heartbreak of Abortion."

"Abortion can be one of the most traumatic experiences in a woman's life," said Melanie Manley, Director of Life Choice Pregnancy Care Center for Logan and Todd Counties.

Manley adds that the 8-week powerful study helps hurting women find the path to healing through honest, interactive Bible study.

"With compassion, you will be encouraged and supported as you allow God into rooms of your heart that might have been sealed for too long. It's time to let go of the shame, accept His forgiveness and heal," Manley quotes.

Manley lists statistics that show one in four women in the United States has experienced an abortion.

"These women carry an incredible burden of silence and heartache. Many struggle for years with repressed memories, guilt, shame, and depression. Life Choice provides a supportive and confidential environment that facilitates healing and restoration from a past abortion and bringing a sense of hope and purpose for the future," said Manley.

The truth is many women who have had an abortion suffer from symptoms of post-abortion grief and trauma. There is most often a hope that the perceived crisis is over and life will return to normal but the crisis is not over. Months and even years later, significant problems can develop.

Many Women who have experienced abortion may develop the following symptoms:

• Guilt

• Grief

• Anger

• Anxiety

• Depression

• Suicidal Thoughts

• Difficulty Bonding with Partner or Children

• Eating Disorder
