Caroline Mills Fuqua and John Joseph Owens were married October 14, 2017, in Raleigh, North Carolina at Saint Mary’s Chapel where Caroline attended boarding school from 2006 to 2009. The Rev. Butch Sherrill from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina officiated the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the reception and seated dinner were held at the Angus Barn in the outdoor Pavilion on the lake with the band Java providing the entertainment for the evening. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Gray Fuqua, formerly of Russellville, Kentucky. She is the granddaughter of Justice and Mrs. William Gray Fuqua of Russellville, Kentucky and Mrs. Leonard Franklin Sutton of Beaufort, North Carolina and the late Leonard Franklin Sutton. She is a 2009 graduate of Saint Mary’s School and 2013 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in communication studies. She is currently employed by North American Transmission Forum as manager of member services.

The groom is the son of Victoria Hollingsworth Owens and Mrs. James C. and the late Dr. James C. Owens and the grandson of Ann Defuria Finch and the late Robert F. Hollingsworth and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Owens. The groom is a 2009 graduate of Woodberry Forest School, a 2013 graduate from Clemson University with a degree in political science and a 2016 Cum Laude graduate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is currently employed by Young Clement Rivers, LLP as an associate.

Wedding music was provided by organist Kevin Kerstetter and violinist Christine Haarvig. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. The bride wore an ivory satin gown designed by Sareh Nouri from New York with a chapel length train.

Sarah Randall Fuqua, sister of the bride, was the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret Foerster Bratton of Charlotte, North Carolina and Anne Finch Owens of Palo Alto, California. James Cleatus Owens Jr. was the Best Man. Groomsmen were William Johnson Fairey of Charlotte, North Carolina, Robert Keith Harris of Pawleys Island, South Carolina and Ashley Calhoun Owens of Columbia, South Carolina. Readers in the ceremony were Eleanor Stanley Fairey, Abigail Hobson Harr and Leonard Franklin Sutton, Jr. The Program Attendants were Ann Rhett Harris, Eleanor Voight Harris, Leonard Franklin Sutton III and Macon Mills Sutton Anne McIntyre Hargrove served as the candle lighter. Original artwork on the wedding program was done by Victoria Helen August.

After a honeymoon in Antigua, the couple will reside in Charleston, South Carolina.
